Clinical Leadership

Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Samoon Ahmad
Dr. Samoon Ahmad, Chief Medical Officer of Sway Health, brings more than 30 years of experience treating some of the most complex and high-risk psychiatric patients in the U.S. He is a board-certified psychiatrist and a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, and is licensed to practice in nine states.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Ahmad served for three decades as Unit Chief of the inpatient psychiatric service at Bellevue Hospital, where he treated high-acuity patients and trained hundreds of clinicians in managing severe mood and psychiatric disorders.
In parallel, he founded the Integrative Center for Wellness in 1997, where he continues to practice today. His clinical focus has long been mood disorders particularly bipolar disorder and he has developed deep expertise in longitudinal, relapse-preventive care. In private practice, this has translated into markedly shorter time-to-stability for bipolar patients often six months rather than the typical five years and notably, no psychiatric hospitalizations among his bipolar patients over three decades.
Beyond direct patient care, Dr. Ahmad has served as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies. He also lectures, conducts research, and is the author of five medical textbooks.

Clinical Advisor
Dr. Ellen Frank
Dr. Ellen Frank is one of the world’s leading experts in bipolar disorder and has spent more than 40 years researching and improving how the condition is treated. She is Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Professor of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Frank developed Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT), one of the most effective evidence-based therapies for bipolar disorder. Her work has shown how maintaining stable daily routines, sleep patterns, and relationships can play a powerful role in preventing mood episodes and helping people with bipolar disorder stay well over time.
At Sway Health, Dr. Frank helps guide the development of our clinical approach to ensure patients receive care that reflects the most advanced research and best practices in bipolar treatment.
